Here's my old son's Christmas Present. 20 Years of collecting those empty sacks finally paid off...

That's cool. This is the first time I've ever seen someone actually do anything with those.

That's a long time to sleep in a cold garage without a blanket. Why didn't y'all let him sleep inside. :jester:

My thoughts exactly, I wouldn't be able to stand much less sew. :jester:

Mine would be made of cardboard or aluminium. :jester:

The one fond memory I have of a Crown bag is our 10 week-old Siamese "son" Bereketh, IN the thing, dangling from the heater control knob of the '66 MGB as we'd make eight-hour trips. That was back in 1970.

When he got too big to fit into the bag, he rode sitting across my shoulders watching the road. Anything below 50 MPH, he'd utter grumbles in my right ear until we'd reach cruising speeds again.

How long did it take to empty those sacks? Someone must have had a wonderful time! Looks like a ton of memories! :jester:

Hmm... 20 years' worth, approximately 108 sacks. Works out to about two months per sack.

Piker!

The quilt looks rather small. If you would like to send me full bottles of Crown,I would be happy to help you work up to a king size. The Bermuda cruise I went on in Sept was selling Crown Royal 2 for $35,00. By back is still sore from carring off the ship. Anything to declare? Nope!

I have to admit that I didnt' have the priviledge of emptying all thoase sacks. I actually found a bunch at a flea market and several friends donated. Most of my friends knew I was planning to try this and they were happy to pitch and help me collect the bags. I have enough now to make two more! Now if I could find a use for empty beer bottles......

I know I'll regret this, you lot can be sooo judgemental an' all...

When I first met Horsemits (I was instantly smitten, BTW) I was reluctant to take her to my apartment. It took many weeks and dates before I'd chance the possibility of chasin' her off: I had a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall set of bookshelves made of naught but wood shelving with empty Johnny Walker Black bottles serving to prop 'em up.

Turned out she liked the decor.

Who you callin judgemental mon....?
