Silly problem

Well at least I know know what it is.

Carb throtle shafts are not aligned with each other, ie offset a bit so they bind some.

Will not go all the way to idle with out messing.

I can push it down the last eight inch but hard to do on the road.

So far the only way I can see to align them is to add some gaskets to the rear carb so it is further out.

Yep both carbs came from an orginal set. Have no clue why unless new bushings for the shafts were not quite centered when they were drilled. They were really worn.

Well tomorrow is another day and I will try the gasket trick unless someone has a better idea.

Measure the distance from the plane of the face of the intake manifold to the throttle shaft? If it's the mani that's wonky, a quick skim might level them off?

Do those have spacers?

Now I found it, it is the rear carb. At almost idle the shaft has a sticking point, like a bur on it or the butterfly.

Will remove the carb in the morning and see what that is all about.

I disconnected them from one another front is smooth as silk rear has a problem, can not immigian what it is really but I bet it is dumb when I find it.

Well there goes the super tune I had, sigh.

Well you know me by now. Hot, humid or not.

The problem was a wire inside the throttle cable broke and was hanging up. Off the the bike shop in the morning for a new cable. Maybe I will be a bit more careful installing it this time.

Both carbs smooth as silk disconnected from the cable.

No matter what kind of a carb you have or how many you have to have a carb cable of some sort.
