For an old car and a restored one at that silicon is the way to go. You do have to bleed and renew the system every couple years as silison does not mix with water and can let water stay in a spot to corrode. Does not eat paint makes it excellent. The only draw back is the temp rating if you want to do any track days. But for the older driven classics it is the way to go. For track days there is a high temp silicon, but depends on track, as some limit the use of silicon because of clean up issues.
