signal red chip

My 69 TR was origionally signal red. A PO painted with a Ford off white. (choke, choke) I am going to repaint the car this winter. Does anyone have a paint code or chip number that I can use to get the origional color. If not, is there a color that is close. The car is going to be a driver. I would like the paint to be close, but I doubt that I will ever show the car in any big shows.

Any help would be appreciated

I would think if you go to your local automotive paint store and told them you wanted 1969 Triumph Signal Red they would have a book of paint chips you could look at to make sure it's the color you want. From there it's just a matter of having them mix it up for you.

I live in the boonies. I asked them about the paint. I got that far away look. I am going to Cape Hatteras on a fishing trip next month. I might have time to stop at a parts store along the way.

Thanks, Pete

A good store will have the code, or can scan a panel and match it.

Like I said in that other thread...

Signal Red
Color Code 32
PPG/Ditzler Code 70966
ICI code 2829
Acme/Sherwin Williams Code 2989

I just gave them this info and got a beautiful Signal Red (House of Kolor paint).

Some additional info from another source. Note: this info is unverified/untested so use at your own risk. I mention it because it may be more meaningful to some sources:

VOC:4.83/%
Lead: 5.81 / MSDS: DBU2

Tinting Guide:
DBU71520# SC
DMD670 587.7
DMD646 30.6
DMD617 1147.8
DBX695 1568.7

I had a panel scanned from my TR3A at a Dupont store and in the Nason Ful-Thane 2K Urethane paint, it matched 1991 Honda Red Code: R63
If you need the mixing numbers for this brand of paint let me know.

A thought. There is a color often called Porsche Red that is an absolute screamer. Can't say which red it is (I am sure there are a bunch of Porsche Red's) but I do know that the color is so red, almost an orange red, that it will catch your eye. Obviously not a TR color, but what a looker on a nice TR3. Why not go off course from normal and catch a few eyes?

Just me.
