Well, I'll admit that the side exhaust does look a little "manly" but Agatha and I don't need anything extra to prove our worth... Besides, as Agatha's mistress I don't need anything more to get black on my white trousers. (tee,hee)

As to Agatha's 'redness', she is usally blushing /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif from all the compliments she gets.

Seriously her certificate showed she came off the line Carmine Red with Black interior and who was I to insist on my original color scheme of white with tan interior. Her redness sure did take me out of my comfort zone. Now I've adjusted. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I switched to a DW side exhaust when I fitted his headers. I was changing to a more competition 'look' and removed the bumpers at the same time. I think the side exhaust gives a cleaner profile and suits the bumperless look.

The noise is not necesary louder but it is different. Firstly there is more resonance as the old cast iron exhaust manifolds act as a resonance sink. The second difference that I noticed is that there is no distinctive change in exhaust note around 2500rpm as with the standard exhaust. Thats a downside because I really liked that change of note to a rasping sound that really bounced of walls and tunnels.

The side exhausts mounted in the sills as per Reid's photos were only installed right at the end of the 3000's Rally life. You'll notice that car is a BJ8. The famous 3000s driven by Moss etc did not have these, they had normal side exit exhausts

When I mentioned "side exhaust" I was referring to just in front of the rear wheel and under the car, not the body mounted style.
