Has anyone installed the side vents into their Healey? I'm thinking about doing the dirty deed, and wonder what tools to use for cutting the holes and how they are installed.
 
I always thought a set of three port holes from an old 50's style Buick would look good on a Healey. I never had the nerve to actually do it. Is your car in finished paint or is it in the process of a rebuild? Bob
 
HI Ramon, The vents aid cooling under the bonnet,but they are IMOP down right ugly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gifHowever, there are at least two different type installations.1]uses a locking ring on the back side of the vent that is held tightly in place with a series of screws between the two parts. The other is welded in place. A Nibbler or a set of sheet metal snips could be used to cut the opening.--Keoke

Thats what I think also... I like the look of the small oval shaped vent that is on an MGA ,I'm just reluctant to cutting up my car.Bob
 
ramon,anything you can do to allow air to pass in,around,over or under a healy engine will drop the temp,but i allways felt the side vents looked better if the car was in full "rally"-"race" set up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif
 
Have you considered louvering the hood instead? Much easier and cheaper to do.
