Side Curtains

I need side curtains frames (Dzus fasterners, not wedge) for TS37971LO. I have a very nice set of stone-colored, leather side curtains made in Cicchester, UK by Skinner, the folks who made my interior, but no frames onto which to fit them. The cheapy frames I bought from who knows where when I bought the car in 1977 did not come even close to fitting. I live in Arizona so it's not an emergency but I was thinking of selling the car and I would expect a buyer to want the weather equipment.

Let me look. I think I have a spare set of frames in the shed collecting dust.

It is best when fitting new side screens to a 3,to put the bare frame into the aperture and "tweek " the little sucker till you have the correct fit.Inspect it for cracks and rust.Make all necessary repairs and paint it PROPERLY! they will rust if not protected and vinyl is never as weather proof as one might wish.....

Thanks for the lead to Macy's Garage. Now have a set of frames and the complete side curtain kit from J Skinner in Cicchester,UK.

Now I need to understand how to put everything together. Some parts of the process seem intuitive, e.g., the window channel pieces go into the frame channels, but other parts of the process are less than self-evident. Looks like there might be sewing involved and rivets used to hold the fixed rear window to the frame. Is glue involved and, if so, where? Those sorts of things.

Any one have or know of where I can get a set of instruction or have, or can direct me to a series of photographs of the process? There doesn't seem to be all that great a margin for error.

Also, one of the posts mentioned paintng. Even though only the vrackets show where they plug into the recepticles (mine are chromed), are the frames color matched to the interior (stone) or are they simply flat black?

Hello,

Right now I am in the same process of fitting the vinyl, channel and windows to my late TR3A side screen frames. However, I will try to get the vinyl sewn and installed by myself. After having scrutinized some different side screens, I think that I have a good plan for the whole procedure, starting from scratch. I purchased the windows from TRF, and right now I am getting the frames powder painted.

Perhaps, I may be able to respond to some of your specific questions. In addition, I would love to watch some photos of the kit supplies by John Skinner.
