I can't tell you how many things I have to modify because the parts don't fit, or how many time I redo my own work because after installing it, I have to take it back out because something else is suppose to be behind it, in front of it, next to it, on top of it, etc etc. So your right Keoke. Hey Roger,

I was thinking of you today. Visited someone with a '67 Golden Beige BJ8 .. 70K original miles ... never restored .. hardly molested, original carpet, seals, engine bay, etc. Took some pictures but then my batteries died. Anyway, the middle drain hose was covered by the carpet but the two corner ones were exposed. The wiring harness for the horns was inboard. The hood scoop grille was on the inside of the bonnet. I did take some pictures of the original shut pillar seals and will add them to that thread. Boy, you would have loved to look over this car. Anyway, I can go back anytime and check details for you.

OK guys, I got my finisher set from Moss today. It comes from Australia. Very nice! Kilmartin maybe?

I noticed three things.

1. No holes, but they have drawn a faint outline along the entire edge. You'll see it in the photo
2. Thicker than AHspares.
3. Dots are more 3D, smaller and more space between them.

Comparison photo attached.

I actually think making your own holes will make a better fit. Seems everything I get, I have to tweak. So, what happens when the pre-drilled holes do not line up with yours. You use them and the fit is off? Or the holes don't quite line up, so you drill through the hole they provide and it hits the edge of your hole. Then the screw does not grab fully and you have screws that are lose. This just seems more logical. Granted, a bit more work. It's not a problem, it's an opportunity. I understand it's all part of a restoration.

I am curious. Which one resembles the real McCoy. Kilmartin or AHspares? Anyone have or seen an original?

All of mine are original Roger.However, they have been polished so much that the little dimples are just about worn away. I think the "KS" are closest to the original.In the event you get a loose screw.Just go to a hobby shop and buy nylon Aileron control anchors and use them just like nuts on the sheet metal screws, and guess what!,they hold like Tasmanian devils and do not rust!---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That post about the hood grill got a lot of different answers. I'm glad you said the 67 was sandwiched between the two pieces. That was my conclusion also, after talking to so many. I was advised by Norman Nock to place small packing pieces under each screw, under the chrome top piece, to keep it from dimpling. Interesting material I got from him. A light brown, sort of gasket type material. Came as a small square sheet. One would cut their own pieces. Could have been a cereal box for all I know. Anyway, photo of my install attached. man, that's so shiney and clean. Roger, I really applaud your attention to detail. I wonder if the blokes at Austin were as careful as you are.

anybody mind if I ask a side Q? What is supposed to cover the opening at the top of the furflex seals along the windshield? Anybody have a photo? I'm still hoping that John's buddy gets his seals perfected so I can replace the junk I have now with the right ones, but I'll still need a cap for the top to eliminate that unsightly hole.

The furflex seals at the edge of the dash fit into openings just under the corners of the dash pad SHG.See my earlier response to ED-K. Don't know what ugly hole you talking about there are so many of them---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

OK There are small rubber tips that screw to the Vent window frame to close out those holes.I think they call them Vent window tips-? See Moss part #681-008, make sure you have all the other fastening bits too and Caps Moss part# 021-778 close out the ones on the windscreen end posts.

I was talking about the seals on the windshield pillars and the holes at the top.

The ends get a rubber cap. Look in the windshield section of the Moss catalog and you should find them.

I cut short pieces of vacuum tubing; homemade grommets /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
