Shouldn't have done that...

So to finish this thread off.

I went back this afternoon to the same dyno. Got 225.2hp @ 5621rpm/126mph and 218.8ft/lbs @ 4978rpm. Numbers corrected again.

Only change was the carb - from a Holley 600 to a QuickFuel 650 and the jets. Car still isn't dialled in right - it is lean at idle and way fat (like 8.9:1) at WOT. But it'll do for now. It for sure feels faster

Wow thats really good power! With that a/f ration, you could probably get 10-15 more hp if you lean it out at WOT.

Yeah that's what I figure.
Pretty decent numbers for a 4.0
The magic 8-ball predicts an LSD in my future...

My buddy had the same pig rich issue. Got his to 12.5 and read in at 262HP at 138MPH 250lbs torque at 5,500RPM.

I've got to stay away from those cars. Wayyyyy to tempting!!

No, you need one.
Trust me.

For less than the cost of another engine rebuild on the TR6 you could have this huge s-eating grin as you powerslide round corners.

Cost of tires is likely to be the limiting factor!

Oh and more pertinent, where did he get it tuned?
I need someone who knows how to tune these things, 'cos I'm flat out useless with carbs...

I just picked up an engine from Woody yesterday. It is going into the white convertible I am restoring for a military buddy of mine. It is a 4.6 stroked to 4.9 liters with custom pistons and rods(real light weight high compression stuff). It also has a solid lifter cam, big valve heads and roller rockers. We are expecting 280HP plus at the rear wheels. The car also gets a Ford Posi, custom driveshaft, center force clutch, aluminum radiator, Mallory ignition, big tube coated headers, quick fuel carb, bigger brake master, Willwood calipers with vented rotors, a clean Georgia body shell with new paint, new interior and a canvas top. Total cost around $25 grand, which is less than the Honda S2000 he was thinking about buying. Car should be good for 12 second 1/4 miles at around 110 MPH with a top speed around 170. Maybe more with the 3.27 rear end gears he wanted. The cam we picked out was the same grind that Woody had in his car up until this year. It delivered 20+ MPG on trips to Carlisle.

Is that the one he had on a stand in the back of his shop? That was a nice looking engine...

The one on the stand was a similar motor but it is getting the new roller cam as well. That one was destined for the red convert in his shop. My motor actually just got dropped off by the builder the day before I picked it up. It was actually done the week before Carlisle, but when Woody went to set up the adjustable pushrods, they were hitting the sides of the holes in the head that they pass thru. He had to remove the heads and send them back to the builder to have the holes redrilled larger.

Sounds real nice. Color me jealous.
I should sell the 6 and sink the $ into the 8 instead.
