TR2/3/3A Should TR3 rear brake slave cylinders move?

I recently put new rear brake cylinders on my TR3. Once I got the spring shims back in place, the cylinder on one side slides along the opening for the cylinder while the other side does not. Should these slide or not?
 
Yes, it should, since it is a single-piston cylinder. Though I don't know how easy it should be to move it.
 
Sammy, clean the backing plate, front and back. You can even use some 4 "0" steel wool. A little bit of brake grease of the wheel cylinder area that touches the backing plate and a light smear on the backing plate will work wonders in the operation of your brake system.

PS Don't forget to put a smear on the backing plate where the shoes touch, (a flat area about 3/4 of and inch on each side.
 
They should move, but it doesn't have to be easily. As long as you can tap it around with a hammer, IMO it's free enough.
 
Yes it can move, but once the brakes are on and adjusted it is not going to move much. There are shims and clips plus a rubber cover to help it say put. You might want to check for readjustment if yours is moving now.
