MGA Should one aquire 2 MGA's

Country flag

I just read the midget thread a few posts down....and thought i would relate my story of the day. Friend calls me up and says he found to A's up the road a ways,(less than five miles from my house..go figure) word is six bills to own them. I take the short ride and meet the nice lady who has possesion and take a look at them. First car had a tree fall one it a while ago, just about cut it in half. the roll bar(whats left of it anyway) kept the car in one piece ...sort of. One wire wheel car the other steel. One good bumper out of 4. maybe a good bonnet and a lid or two. Cars are complete, both engines siezed, third engine in shed turns over, lots of misc. trinkets could be salvaged. cars last registered in 70 and 73. The second car frame is toast in the usual spots. 3 seats forth one pretty much flattened by the afore mentioned tree, look ok, moldy but all there.

So anywho i sit here wondering if i should make an offer (considerably less than 6 bills), pay to get them flatbedded home, strip and save what i can and scrap the rest......

Nothing like buying work. not that i need more to do....Wish i had an upper 40 or so acres....HELP!!!

I've got 2 MGA coupes sitting under a shed & still don't have enough to build 1...you can never have too many MGA's!

ya i know...`

I gotta figure out a way to get a barn in upstate NY to go hunting for MG's So many MG's and so little time. I used to only love Midget but now I wish I had them all.

IMHO low ball a bit and see what happens, if ya got the room.

I took that same advice from Tony. Wave few bucks and if they take it, Great. If they don't, dont't sweat it. Theres more where that came from. It's gotta be worth it.

i got the room but i would not want them sitting on my lawn for long. Which means that i would have to do what needs to be done before snow flies. i do recall the windshield posts looking pretty good, and the chrome on the cowl vents was still very pretty, and she did say " i just want them gone!"......

That is what the lady said about the sprite i picked up. "leave the money under the door mat and make sure it is gone when I get home"

Lets get back to the initial question: "Should one acquire two MGA's?"..........Pretty much a no-brainer; YES! One should acquire two MGA's.

500 just might do it.

If 6-bills = $600 - then get them quick.... You can make the money back selling a few trim bits on ebay... If It = $6K, then walk, or make a very lowball offer.

$600 MGA's don't come up often (if at all)... I say Buy Buy Buy Buy Buy Buy Buy!!!!!!

I would love to see what a pair for $600, of MGA's look like myself.

'course $600 isn't much by comparison to the $ks needed to make it run and look right.....

I think of these projects as the very thin end of a very thick wedge.... (even if it isn't one of those TR7 thingies).... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Guess what I would do is take a wild jump and say well some of the bits might be nice to have for parts but I will have to disassemble and move them and such. How about $100 each and I will get them out of your way quick.

If she does not like your price or wants to quible give her a card with your price and phone number, thank her for her time and say Good Day like a proper Brit.

And do not look back. Let it rest, let her sleep on it and think.

Sigh, another disparaging remark about the TR7. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif There's nothing wrong with them . . . . . as long as they have a V-8 in engine bay! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

uhhmmmmm i just got off the phone with the nice Lady, going back up tommorrow after work (big Sigh).....I told her that basically they are piles of junk that i may get some usable parts , but very few. That i am buying a pile of work, in order to get very little. This is very true. wait till ya see what these poor cars look like. 30+ years in the vermont woods have done a number on them.

either way it goes down, i will snap some pics.

Tune in same Bat time same Bat channel...for the
Rest of the story.
