Should My '63 BJ7's Carburetors Have Brass Caps or Black Plastic? I'm entering her into a concours in September and I don't want to add an incorrect cap if what I have already is correct. My car has the black plastic of the later cars but if it is supposed to have the brass, I can order them and replace the caps. Any and all help will be most appreciated.

They are HS6 carbs and came with Black plastic caps. Brass look better and are available. Not sure what kind of Concours it is but unless its being run by the Healey Concours Registry I doubt the judges will know the difference.

Per the Healey Concours guidelines : "up to and including early 29D series six cylinder engines, the dashpot caps were unfinished brass, hexagonal in shape, on later 29D series (after # 6395) and all later engines the caps were black plastic with a wavy outer edge".

Hope this helps,
Mike
