Should I do it?? [electrical conversion]

There is a company that converts the generators into alternators. Power something. Costly but remains looking concours.

Yeah!:
I saw them too and said that's the way to go until I saw the Price'---$$$$$$$-LOL

The Stealth Dynamator is a better deal at <$300 delivered in the US.

https://www.accuspark.co.uk/dynamator.htm

The only caveat is they've had some problems with voltage regulators ($approx $15). New ones are widely available as it's a Bosch design that ran for years.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, but would have it tested before installation. There's a guy in Canada they can hook you up with who sells them.
A friend and I installed a Dynamator on a friend's BN1 and it burned up the stator windings due to a faulty regulator. The guy in Canada sent another one with no argument.

The custom version mentioned above is just under $1000. Stretchit2 bought one.

The Dynamator comes in several sizes including the larger BJ8 and in pos or neg earth. Suggest giving them a look.

I have this Alternator on my MG TD and TC it works great and have the connection for the tacheometer It can be a solution
for the BN1 or BN2 and is postive ground - cost on ebay co uk GBP135 skipping to Italy 35 GBP (I tink that USA is a little bit more) It appear as a LUCAS Dynamo CV40 and similar have also the internal regulator (2 wires)

For my BN4 I have acquired also one from the same ebay shop that cost less (haven't the tacheometer conn. and NEGATIVE ground )
But it stay on the shelf unit in garage on the car work an oldest LUCAS Alternator

I Agree the ALTERNATOR goes a great contribution to the affordability of my classic cars
adding the new harness it can came nearest my 4runner TOYOTA

Hi All,

Accuspark puts out very nice and visually compatible alternators. However, if you have Concourse objectives, it will not fly. However, if you just want to maintain an original look, it can be an expensive winner.

For my part, I try to keep the look of my Healey as close to original ... within reason. I painted my alternator engine green and my engine generator bracket to keep it looking consistent, but, my new Delco SI10 65 amp alternator had a cost of under $65 and my complete conversion was under $100.

Bottom line, if you want a Concourse competitive Healey, you will have to stay original in all aspects. If you want a "looks original Healey" and cost is not a factor, then Accuspark has a very good alternator to consider. However, if reasonable look alternatives (including spin-on filters, sound systems, lighting, etc.) are acceptable. Then you have quite a few alternatives at a wide range of prices to choose from.
