take off my DGV and go dual SU ? My DGV is working "o.k". Would I be bettter off w/ the dual set up? How 'bout milage, power etc... Howe much will I be looking at?

What car? The 1500 likes the DGV because it has 4 intake ports.
The A series does not do as well with the DGV.
I was running a DCOE on my 1275 but went back to SUs when gas hit $4 a gallon last year. I went from 25 mpg to almost 40 mpg. Yes 5 speed but I also had the 5 speed with the DCOE and was getting 25 max.I did loose a little in performance
but not enough to worry about.

I replaced my 32/36 with the SUs (HS2s). Better. 1098cg, Pacesetter header.

Get rid of the rubber bumper and put the effort in a BE.

Can't, wife's car and "wedding car".

Sorry guys, forgot to mention stock '79.

Lose the fake Weber for SU's. They're positively miserly. You may miss the initial "kick" off the line, as SU's don't have "squirters" in 'em... BUT(!) they really are nearly as quick and the mileage increase is worth it.

If you DO change, it is also beneficial to match the ports well and do a bit of clean-up to the head, get a better exit manifold.

taking a '79 to dual SU's will mean notching the passenger side inner wheel well to fit - if you don't want to (I had just had the body done) a single HS4 (or I think an H144) is more than acceptable

went from a Weber 32/36 to dual HS4 set up- practically doubled my mileage. The car is noticeably quicker. I aint never going back.

notching the cross piece in the bay was painless. Used a cut off wheel on a 4 inch grinder made two cuts- removed the triangle shaped piece, inverted it- replaced it in the same hole and reattached it using panel adhesive.

Anyone on this thread converted to a MegaSquirt electronic fuel injection? A buddy has done this on an early BMW 2002 as his 32/36 Weber got a crack in the body, and he's quite keen; we have a 73 2002 as well at a high school getting paint and body, and we've been talking about converting the dual side draft Mikuni's to EFI. But that's a year away, so I sure don't have any useful, practical, experience to toss in here. A guesstimate of costs for the BMW (retaining the Mikuni's as throttle bodies and for the period look) would be in the 800 to 1000 dollar region.

Stock '79 MGB?

If so, the conversion to dual SU's doesn't require any modifications to the bodty....they just bolt right in if you have a complete setup.....done it several times.

I have no clue if he's talking about a '79 Midget!

Your right- This is the Spridget forum tho...so i thought we were talking about a Midget....

Well, one would think so...but by the way he's talking, it could be a B......really wish people would tell us what car they're talking about when they ask a question.

'79 Midget is basically a Spitfire engine.....gonna be interesting to find all the parts necessary to swap carbs

Easy Peezy

https://tinyurl.com/y9z5snm + 2 HS2's and you're good to go.

problem is only the little cutout on the fender that I am unwilling to make.

I'm kinda with you on that. I won't cut my car for a five speed.

I might just go ahead and go Mega Squirt. I have one here in my desk drawer. It hasn't made my desk run any better. I just don't want to go through the down time. I'll need to wait till summer.

I could fab up a manifold that'll eliminate the cut. Gotta make one anyway.
