TR5/TR250 Should I buy this TR250 tonight?

I saw an interesting automatic TR6 in Cal for sale a few years back that was modified for a handicapped driver. They claim it was done with a compatable unit, I assume something from the British Leyland inventory of parts, speaking of automatics...

I think it was Steve Hedke who built one for his father using an automatic transmission from a Triumph sedan. Proving perhaps that there is right way to go about such things.

There's a 250 on e-bay...with a surrey top...buy it now is around 5700...Personally, I think it's a bargain.

I saw that Green one on Ebay. I was watching it,...but now it's gone? What happened to it? It looked like a real nice one

Correct. Basically, the BW35 gearbox and other relevant bits came from a Triumph 2000 sedan (not a big seller in the US).

FWIW, Triumph experimented with the same gearbox in a TR3A and built at least one such car around 1959. Presumably, though, the powers that be did not see a market for the car at the time. For one thing, the rather bulky gearbox resulted in an equally bulky cover and some REALLY narrow footwells!
