Should I be lubricating my Strombergs?

I cranked my car today and had the throttle jamb wide open when the engine turn over. Whew! That will get you attention. Now, I have triple ZS carbs with cable throttle (I was reworking the linkage) and everything seems to work ok now, but this has happened before. There is no binding or catching in the linkage, just wondering if some kind of external penetrating lubricant is indicated on these babies to keep all the visible moving parts free (shafts, etc.).

I don't believe that you have to lube any of the linkage, per se, but is there a possibility that this may be happening to you on the center carb? That linkage can hit the hose, just enough to cause it to stick wide open, but not enough that you'd ever feel it in the pedal.
 
Mine needed some PBBlaster to help it work right. The throtle kept sticking because it was a little rusted. My car sat a lot before I bought it. I don't think the PO drove it but a couple of times a year.

Come on Tom! You know better than that. You know that one must always grind a notch in the rubber hoses and never do it by cutting. Jeez....
