Should commitments always be honored?

Yes they should!

Woke up this morning and there was a new dusting of snow and temperatures were in the single digits and schools were on a two hour delay. Now that should have told me something!

It didn't.

When the temperature got to a balmy 20, Agatha and I started our trek into Albuquerque (about 20+ miles). There was Agatha finally warmed up to about 120 and there was I clad in an extra sweater, jean jacket and outer jacket with hood. Add to this earmuffs and gloves and you have Nanook of the North. Off we went accompanied by a crosswind and husband. Husband was behind me in a 70 degree controlled atmosphere, wind resistent vehicle called Emma Envoy. Route 66 all the way.

Upon arriving at our destination I have to say that it wasn't all the bad, after all my tears did freeze to my face and I certainly had that healthy sun baked look.

I have to be honest and say that if I hadn't made a commitment to the New Mexico Council of Car Clubs, I would not have made this trip. My only consolation is that I really did enjoy the epic drive and will do the same again on Sunday evening.

P.S. It was top down all the way! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

I remember a drive like that in '87, it was SWMBOs Grandparents
anniversary, their 60th, February 15th, sunshine, and about
20*F, we had the top down, the heater on full blast, and had
people pointing at us...

47 years ago I made the reverse of that trip on the way from San Diego to Denver in a BN4. Fog and freezing between Abq and Santa Fe. Had the top up though. The commitment was to attend my wedding, the biggest and best commitment of my life.

Now that is something to be committed for (er,...TO!) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif Drove home Sunday night via Rte. 66, again in the teens. Top down of course. However I must say the SuperNationals were worth it. Agatha (blushingly) received a Second Place in Restored Foreign Cars. She was beat out by a guy named Boris who was a Italian (A.R.). However, she got Outstanding Foreign Sport Car and the award which was a handsome plaque came with $50.00. First time she started to earn her keep!

I have to admit I did feel quite explorerly on both drives.

Would I do it again? Absolutely! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

Yes, Of course!

As others have mentioned; Its better to be safe than crazy & perhaps frost bitten!
