Should be a good weekend...

One of the plus points of where I live is the lack of neighbours, only 6 within half a mile, nad none of them have kids! I've seen a heavily rusted adjustable spanner get put into an ultrasonic cleaner for 5 minutes and it's come out looking like new, and it was adjustable again for the first time in several decades! As for the price, yes they are not cheap, but look at the amount of time they save you! Just the thought of being able to put the whole carburettor in it and getting it all cleaned up in 30 minutes... A couple minutes with the metal polish afterwards and they'll be fine

Congrats on the "living conditions"!!

Yeah, they're (ultrasound tanks) great tools, I'll admit. We've a small one here I use a lot for small stuff. Never put anything more than draughting pens or jewelery in it, tho. What was the 'medium' for cleaning the spanner? I may need to re-evaluate, as now the pens are replaced with a digitising tablet & track-ball! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

It's basically a biodegradable detergent, they have different solutions for different tasks: removing rust, decoking pistons etc. As for the size, I know I can get a small unit for jewelry (I may consider this as I have a thing for watches), but the one I'm after has a 35 litre capacity and should be big enough to hold most things. I reckon I might even be able to make a few quid from it: there's a few local garages that would probably be happy to outsource their parts for cleaning if it's only a few quid...
