The shifter is much too tall for my liking. Looking a TR7s over the years I've noticed that guys have shortened their shifters and I would like to do it in my car. Is it pretty straight forward. Cut off approx 2" and retread the shaft then drill out the knob oversized and retread it?
What size tap and die did you use? Also any unintended consequences?

I've had one in my TR8 for about a year and I like it a lot better than the long shifter.
