TR4/4A Shortening the gear stick

Hi all - is there any harm in shortening the gear stick/shift? I don't mean aesthetically, but are there any knock-on effects that can occur?
Thanks.

I know of no issues though I have always found the stock length and that 'rifle bolt' action to feel about right.

I wonder if a shorter gear shift would allow the use of a TR3A stick which is straight instead of the bent version in the 4s?
