Looking for a set of tires for my wire wheel MGB. Dont want something that looks like it goes on my Dodge Caravan. Any suggestions? Thanks! Dave

Tire Rack!!! (they're sponsors here).

Just got a set of Sumitomo HTR-200's for SWMBO's B. 175/70 R 14's.

I need tires for my '71 MGB with Rostyle (?) wheels. What size am I looking for? The ones that were on it are very wrong! Thanks.

For the Rostyles, I'm running 185/70-14s. They're just a smidge wide for that rim, but within the margin of error. The originals were 165-14s (roughly a 78 aspect ratio) and the 185/70s are pretty much identical circumference and will fit without rubbing. You could probably also fit the 175/70-14s. I bought Sumitomo HTR-200s from Tire Rack also. My impression is that it's best to buy from Tire Rack rather than someplace local, because since these are fairly rare installs, your local warehouse might be selling you some very old tires.

Due to the popularity in Europe and claims of a superior ride and handling, I put these Vredestein Quadtracs on our "B". I swear the ride improved by 25%. They are a directional tread design, so you can't X them when rotating. Because of their fancy side walls, they are not period correct either, but I wouldn't trade them for any tire out there! Their Spirit design is more period correct, but doesn't ride as well. I bought them through Tire Rack, which they ordered them directly from Holland. Took three months to get, due to a two month lay over in a Canadian port waiting for customs to clear the container. But I'm glad I waited. PJ

Thanks guys...I'll be looking.

The tire rack sells a Dunlop fe20 in 185/70-14. They are a bit narrow compared to the Goodyears I have on a different MGB. I really like the way they work and would purchase them again. Bob

The TF I just bought came with new Dunlops and look very period correct. I understand they came with Dunlops when new. Hope their not dry rotted by the time I get the car done! :jester: PJ
