since my $500.00 midget has a bad motor and I can see a long drawn out deal to get the car on the road, I am thinking of buying another Midget. this time I want one ready to roll as my daily driver these four top my list for now. What do you all think

https://charleston.craigslist.org/cto/1594606285.html

this aready has a ford 5 spd. with stainless wire wheels and upgraded dist.good interior. ask him about clutch issues and he said it was from the conversion "out of alignment" and is adjustable by gib screw? dose this sound right.

this one I like because of color, suppose to have a real good body, but all the wires under the hood are a mess. SOLD as I was posting, owner called me to let me know

I would stay away from all those rubber bumpers 1500cc cars and go with 1275cc

Cheers

Mark

I know what you are saying but seems the cars in best condition are the rubber bumpers, plus this is strickly driver. Called back on the black midget and just sold a hour ago.

Plus with the rubber bumpers I don't need to worry about parking at wally world

Freeway driving? If yes the 5 speed will be extremely nice.
Motoring around town, little freeway but mostly fun driving?
Go with the 72 RWA car that you "just liked".

That's easy, just say no to WW.

funny you should say that, for the past year I have thought twice before I go there. I tire of their way of selling and herding customers. I made it a point not to buy any christmas there this year.

I'll go if it's to discover some "people of walmart" but I'm done forking over my hard earned money for their inferior 'merchandise'.

Anyway - +1 again on the 72.

+1 on that 72.

the 79 with a t9 and a 3.7 rear... i wouldn't rule that out at all.

I would want to see the 77 and look real good at the floors.

What's the situation with smog inspection in SC? Here in CA, anything after 1975 has to be smogged. That really limits what you can do with the car. Dunno if it's similar where you live.

All these cars have advantages and disadvantages. I think that I'd go with whatever looks best--probably one will be obvious once you start looking at them close up.

I think they did away with car inspections all together down there now. Here a car over 35 years old don't have inspection.

One of the reasons I moved from NC2SC. They don't have a whole lot of rules down here. I left NC when they made it against the law to throw away alumunin and not recyle it. The people of North Carolina are great, and I still visit the state twice a month.

I'm looking at opportunities in SC. Glad to know you're in the area! Hopefully, we will be there by year end. Good to know about the "lax" rules!

To advance your knowledge of SC "lbc", we are a depressed area, historically the Grand Strand area that I am from has the lowest wages in a state that has historicaly low wages. If I was younger I would be looking for another area that I could commit to that prosper at a better rate. Charleston, Greeenville, and maybe Columbia will be best bets for locating decent employment. If you bring your own job, or looking to retire, Charleston would still have high rankings as would Greenville area. I would never retire in the Grand Strand area..to much of a transit/vacation area

On the other hand I LOVE S.C.
Smiling faces and beautiful places.

I have a RB car and drive it every day everywhere. I don't sweat parking at wally world. RB cars are the DRIVERS of spridgets. They're worth less and harder to hurt. The 1500 isn't that bad and has more low end and will do fine on th interstate w/ a 4 speed at 70MPH. Sure, it'll wear bearings faster and there's that pesky thrust washer, BUT; you can change all the bearings and washers w/ the engine still in the car.

All this being said, I still want a RWA car. I would OCCATIONALLY drive a RWA, but not to wally world and be REALLY careful where I park. I've already been PURPOSELY hit by an idiot in the back w/ my RB car. I have no idea how many times it's been bumped when I'm not around. That's one luxury you don't get with chrome bumpers.

If you're gonna drive it like a regular car and use it alot, go RB.

My RWA car looks nice, but underneath it is a patched together 1970 and 1972. I used to drive it everywhere without fear of hurting its value. Now that I have small children it is driven less, but I still would not hesitate to drive it down a gravel road or park it in a crowded/busy parking lot.

At the moment we don't have smog inspections in SC. There is a chance certain areas that are in non-attainment (ie near Charlotte or other big cities) could one day require inspection. I hope not because my 80 Spit won't pass.

I dread the day when my de-smogged 83 FJ60 with Weber and
headers has to get something stuck up it's tailpipe.
I love the old truck. It's going to be sad.

BE and B should be exempt for now...I'd hope!
Ya never know when they get to writing those darn laws
or interpreting that darn data.

We get a pass and I'm loving it.

'67 and earlier are smog exempt here in UT (and my county doesn't smog test at all for now). I admit that has kept me partial to '67 and earlier cars. Solves a lot of trouble later on.

I had a '76 FJ40 years ago that had much trouble passing without, shall we say, a sympathetic examiner.
