OK, I just did my tool sale shopping - from home. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I bought standard and metric sets of craftsman gear wrenchs (with the ratcheting box ends)... 29.99 a set. Should be here by the end of the week.

No crowds, no driving 10 minutes to find a parking spot, no lines, no fighting over the last ones... I love internet shopping - hehehehehehhehee. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
 
I will never understand the mentality behind rushing out to shop the day after Thanksgiving. People act as if it's a mandatory event. If I have to buy anything from a retail store, I buy it in a regular shop, not in a shopping mall. There are never crowds that way. If I must go to a shopping mall, I don't do it the day after Thanksgiving. 90% of the gifts I buy come from online stores.

I haven't fought a holiday crowd to buy anything in many years.
 
I agree, The Sears sale was a bust. The item I was hoping would be on sale wasn't. I wanted to use it this weekend. The kids got me up ealy, so I said, let's hop in the car. I picked a a few hotwheels things for their stocking stuffers. All done - now I can sit back a relax until Christmas
 
Not much in my stocken anymore. sigh. Lump of coal.

Most of my tools are Craftsman from 25+ years ago. They won't ship to me here and that really annoys me. I don't need much, but its a hassle having it sent to relatives and trans-shipped, but I save on import duties and taxes (think 17%) 'cause its then called a "gift" and seems to be exempt.

Christmas shooping's not so bad, just go mid-morning, mid-week.

Missed he Sears tool sale but bought myself a neat backpack gasoline leaf blower this afternoon - makes fast work of piling 'em up....& it was fun!
 
Went to the local hardware and bought a storm door fir the greenhouse. Will fit perfectly. Almost missed OSU beating Oregon State--what a game. Did miss the crowds because we went to nonmall stores.

I think that's the secret to shopping survival after Thanksgiving. We only have 3 malls in the entire state. If you avoid those (which is easy) and the 9000 WalMarts scattered about, then the crowds aren't bad.
 
Hey, I just checked the web site and they don't have any stores in New England??? Was it something we said?

It was the tea, wasn't it? They never forget.
 
Not much shopping today, but I had to run to Canadian tire(for those not familiar - think pep boys meets Wal Mart)and it was a mad house....Dropped the Caddy off at the mechanics(*sigh*), put up the christmas lights, fiddled around with the TR6, took it out for a spin, pulled the ugly wooden steering wheel out of the 61 MGA, and finally made some more progress on the factory steering wheel restoration(it's almost done!)
Tommorrow it's funiture shopping(avoiding big malls) and XK8 clean up day.
 
I got out in this for the first time. Went to Staples at 5am to see if I could get a $299 laptop. The line was orderly and the store was handing out tickets for items like that laptop. They were already gone, but I got a 200GB hard drive for $19.95 and a 1GB thumb drive for $7.95. All after rebate, of course.

Then, I went to Ace Hardware. The highlight of that trip was getting a couple of Dremel-like tools for $9.95 apiece, one of which will be free after rebate.

I'll get out in it for deals like the ones above next year, and may try to get up earlier. The wife wouldn't miss going to the mall. I'll draw the line at that.
 
My wife brought home a portable dvd player (one with the 7 inch screen) for $40, and a couple of 1 GB SD cards for $13 each.
 
We went to Office Depot at the end of the day to see if anything was left. They still had some of the discounted computer furniture, which we bought, and one of the $15 DVD players that we bought for a Christmas present.

Wal-Mart still had a few deals, but all the cheap laptops and most of the cheap desktop computers were sold out.

We went clotheshopping today at the mall. The deals may be going in that direction today.
