In the effort to keep my car from aging or falling apart to fast I'm looking for suggestions on the following:
1. Treatment for rubber seals (would silicon spray help or hurt, how about glycerin)

2. Glue to hold rubber seal in place (the AutoZone stuff does nut hold up )

3. Wax for hollow spaces like sills etc. (anyone heard about FERTAN)

4. Glue to repair veneer (how is regular wood glue with humid environments)

5. Paint to finish veneer.
Any recommendations on wood refinishing places?

Thanks.

LuckyLuke:
1. Rubber seals can be wiped with talc as in baby powder, it is water resistant and will not deteriorate the rubber.
2. Go to a regular Auto Parts store and get the 3M adhesive for rubber weatherstrip.
3. WaxOyl (sp?) available at XKsUnlimited or Bassets'.
4. Use a good grade contact cement 3M? etc.
5. The older Jags were laquer finished and polished to shine. Clear Polyurethane as used on wood floors works well, or go to a ship yard or boat dealer and get Valspar Wood Finisher. Works great on all wood and is resistant to weather and sun.
Wood will depend on what model of car. The older Jags 50-60 had Burl Walnut dashes and trim.
