There just aren't words. Our prayers for the families.

Just awful.

Yep, I just couldn't manage to do anything today after hearing the news. UNimaginable.

My brother and his family live minutes from there.
My other brother was looking at houses in that town last year.
I'm distraught, sickened and angry.
I can't say anymore about it here. Some of you may note my comments on Facebook about this.

.

I think everyone is a bit emotionally raw from this terrible event. I think it's important for all of us to remained focused on the care and support of those directlly effected.

It is a terrible terrible thing, and I can only say that our thoughts and prayers are with the families. I just saw that many of our fine congressmen and women are using this as a platform to stump for more gun control. It sickens me to see someone use a tragedy like this to try and further their own political ends.

Here in Connecticut we're all struck dumb with this tragedy, including a friend of mine who lives about three miles from the school. The emotional stress for all those children - including those in other schools - is another horror that will affect them all their lives.

Tell your kids you love them. Work to keep the peace. Encourage the sense of community in our children.

Tom

I can only say that this tragedy makes me sick. In time we will learn what would have caused a young man to do something so terrible. All too often these things are the result of a serious mental illness gone out of control (don't know if this is the case, but very often it is and I would not be at all surprised if an untreated mental illness were at play here). And as angry as I know we all are, please please don't use this as a platform for politics. Just say a prayer, if you are so inclined, or at least keep all the victims in your thoughts.

Given he killed his mother, "other children" she cared about and possible his father, I'll venture this goes deeper and farther than first meets the eye. Obviously it's a dysfunctional family gone horribly wrong. Unfortuantly this looks to have been long in the making. I have a theory, but this isn't the time or the place. As bas' stated, time may tell the tale.

Not necessarily. Mental illness can strike the very best of families. That's just a fact. Whether that's what is at play here I don't know, but time will tell. Until then. it serves no purpose for us to speculate (and that includes me), so I'm closing this thread. We all know what happened and we will get the facts in due time, in the mean time, I'm closing this thread (not deleting, just closing) with this: Keep those folks in your thoughts and prayers.
