Shocks: Rebuild Lever Arms or Tube Conversion???

Re: Shocks: Rebuild Lever Arms or Tube Conversion?

This is one of those topics which always starts a lively discussion, seems everyone's experience is different.

I changed to telescopic adjustable gas shocks to get better performance with my upgraded Triumphtune springs. The first kit I got had non-adjustable KYB shocks, which I thought were too soft to control the firmer springs, so I got Spax and am happy with them.
On the track I can adjust the cars balance by softening the rear shock settings by 3 clicks for a cool day or damp track, which seems to work.

I have used 205/50 series tires with a tread width of 8 inches without any clearance problem, but a taller sidewall might be different.

Rob,
I am running the Blind Moose kit, with GoodParts road springs and 215/70/15 tires on Six Inch SupperLite wheels with no rubbing problems at all, front or rear.

Thanks - that's helpful. From Paul's pics it looked like it could be a close fit.

Re: Shocks: Rebuild Lever Arms or Tube Conversion?

I too have tube shocks. They have been on there for 10 years I think and have never had a problem. They are the KYB brand. I am running with Goodparts spings, bushings and adjustable trailing arm brackets. But I drive hard when I do drive it. I am running yokohama 205/70/15 and never have any rubbing. But like someone said everyone has their opinion on this subject. Go with what you are comfotable with.
