Came across two shocks while cleaning up the mess of MG stuff and am not sure what their off of. On the bottom of both shocks are the numbers, 817771 and below them is HH6961. I think their for an MGB but not sure. Any clues? PJ

I knew you would ask that! I'll get one today! PJ :highly_amused:

Actually it's 8177/1 and AHH6961 Absolutely MGB front shock. 8177 is Armstrong's number. (-/1 is a version). AHH6961 is the BMC number. You may also see a date code stamped on it.

Thanks Peter! They appear to be in good shape with plenty of resistance and no leaks, so, back on the shelf for now. PJ

I shoulda extrapolated. ;) The HH6961 to AHH6961 BMC one, I mean.

One has a date code of 1272, the other is hard to read but appears to be the same year but the month isn't readable. PJ
