I am considering ordering a tonneau and supports from England but was quoted an astronomical (as in astro-commical) amount. About $120.00 US for a $160.00 order. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Are you talking shipping? WOW!! I ship to & from UK all the time...to UK I use US Post Office...from UK I use Delta Airlines freight service....neither are overly expensive...for a tonneau/bars you shouldn't pay more than $30 or so for shipping - heck, they can go regular mail UK to US!

That does seem way to high. What shipper gave you the quote?
I doubt that the USPS would charge anywhere near that. You could almost fly over and pick it up for that much.

Hope our not using A-H Spares. I bought a cover from them in '94 with a lot of other stuff and when I went to use itin '02, it was 2 1/2" too short, when fastened at the back wouldn't reach the dash. I corresponded with then about the issue, couldn't believe it could shrink in only one direction in the package, they would not replace it but agreed to sell me another at their cost. I asked them to check the questionable fore/aft dimension, I checked my car against two [2] others locally and all were within 3/16". All they would confirm was that their cover was correct, they sold hundreds without complaint - but no data. The second cover was better but still 1 1/4 short. I have this theory about throwing good money after bad but I ignored my theory that time. I returned the second cover for a full refund this time and have plans to cut the original cover and splice in the needed length. I obtained some original material from Heritage Trim in Vancouver BC while there and questioned them about making me a cover. They'll make it custom for your car, the cost is a little more but hassell free, and their workmanship is impecable. If I fail at the splice attempt I'm going to bit the bullet and order a cover from Heritage.

Actually, it is AH Spares. Now I'm having second thoughts. I'm not looking for any hassels. I was beginning to think all the covers were made by the same person and just sold by different vendors. They all seem to use Everflex (?).

quoted a shipping price. after i got it,they said
they had made an error and the price was doubled
(on my credit card!)still cheaper than MOSS or
HEMPHILL'S. unfortunately sometimes that's the
only place you can find what you need. now i make
sure i have a solid price before they ship. they
cut me a deal on a heater because of their mistake.i'll specify how i want things shipped next time.

For comparison, Canley Classics quoted me about $120 US to ship a 6-3-1 tubular stainless steel header from England to VA. I'm not sure of the weight, but it's not too heavy.

I have a '59 BN4 car and when I ordered the tonneau cover, in person, I had the car's serial number, and it's run number, with me, quoting them when ordering. Yes when I put my rear sub structure back on the frame I moved it rearward so as to have a 0.200 " gap front and rear on the door. But I've measured two other local cars and their all within 3/16 and my car was in the middle !

When the factory redesigned the cockpit for 4 seats 2" was added to the length in the door area which would obviously effect the convertible top and tonneau cover lengths. I know someone who picked up a convertible top for his BJ7 during a swap meet type sale only to find it was 2" short during installation. He did add splice near the front which looked a bit frankenstein until the seam was covered with the 'hidem' strip.

When the factory redesigned the cockpit for 4 seats 2" was added to the length in the door area which would obviously effect the convertible top and tonneau cover lengths.
