Shipping a rollbar

I am trying to ship a Bugeye rollbar from Seattle to Ohio and UPS just quoted me $130. I know that there are a few threads here about this but I can't find them. I just covered up the sharp corners and took it in but 130 seems ridculous. What is the better (cheaper) way?

FEDEX Ground...wrap it in brown paper & slap a label on it.

Bill,

If this is the same rollbar I shipped you, then go Fed Ex ground. I believe it was around $20....maybe $25 when I shipped it to you several months ago.

& you really only have to pad the sharp corners like you did...but, I think when you "pack" it, the price goes down. Just grab some 4" brown paper tape & wrap it!

Yes Mike
The same bar. My brother just got a Bugeye for his girls (high school age) and we both decided that the rollbar should be in their car, mine is driven by an OLD guy (me) and the rollbar is less of an issue here.

Thanks Tony, good idea.
