Shifter question Grxchxch! [1275]

Just went for a test drive. Weeeee! Did nothing for my spring alergies but it was fun.

Anyways, the shifter does not seem to have any gating. If I am not careful, I easily run into 1st when shifting to third, or reverse when shifting to 4th. Is there some way to remedy this without taking the trans out?

Tell us more, the side plate on the tranny will come off with effort. Are the detents and springs in there? Is this new to you or what.

Oh, it's new alright!

I'll stop being lazy and curl up with my manuals for a while and familiarize myself with the shifting innards. I'll post back when I can hold my water in this thread. Just consider this a premature post-ulation.
