I found a receipt in my truck from a mere two years ago - dated 12/19/08 - $1.79.
Oil companies are still posting record profits. Not sure why it's so expensive. Good thing I got the HD fixed as I'll have to take it to work more often to save a few bucks. If'n I don't flog it, I get 50 miles to the gallon.
I need to get my Jag XJS fixed. It's sucking 8-9 MPG and the cheapest gas around here is 3.33/gal. Good thing I'm slightly agoraphobic so I don't use much. My mini van had a slow tire leak that has been driving me nuts for months. Turned out to be a bead leak. I fixed it yesterday but can't be sure it will hold. The tires are ancient anyway so they should be replaced but the van is not worth fixing everything it needs. So far so good but it still needs the braking system fixed (No boost), radiator has a slight leak and the transmission might be starting to go. If I can find a slightly older van with less mileage I'll snap it up. I got my moneys worth on it and I can probably find what I need for a grand.
In the UK petrol is around $8.76 per gallon and diesel even more due to the huge ammount of tax. Changing to Litres made it easier for the oil companies to put up the price without people noticing. I am lucky to have an economical little car that still looks nice and is fun.
