Well, after replacing or rebuilding nearly everything that could wear on the brake system and the front and rear suspension, replacing all the rubber hoses in the car, upgrading the alternator to a 60amp Bosch unit, replacing the wire wheels and adapters, and tending to a host of little electrical gremlins, my little TR6 is now back on the road... just in time for winter!!

I installed nylatron bushings, springs and adjustable trailing arm brackets that I purchased from Richard Good at Goodparts.com. I can't stress how great Richard was to work with and his parts are of the best quality. I will definitely buy from him again. The springs lowered the car about an 1", but it looks positively awesome (see attached pic). How does it ride? A lot better than I thought it would considering the bushings and the Koni shocks up front. My SVT Focus will still smoke it on the curves, but considering a 40 year old chassis design it runs pretty good and besides, there are very few road cars that handle as well the SVT anyway.

My biggest headache came from the wheels. The painted wire rims that came with the car were hopelessly worn and had to be replaced. So I bit the bullet and got new Dayton chrome wheels with stainless spokes from Hendirx Wire Wheel here in Greensboro. The pictures speaks for themselves, the wheels are absolutely gorgeous. The tires are 205/70R15 Yoki Avids and fill out the fenders nicely (no rubbing at all).

Anyway, sorry for ranting, but I'm just so glad that it's finally on the road.

Now if it only had 75 more horsepower.....

Well done Shannon, wheels look great and it sounds like you have a great ride. Let me know about the nest car show you will be going too, guess it will be Winston in the spring.

Thanks,

The paint on it is great, unfortunately the car sat for almost 10 years, so everything rubber was trash. I did all this just to get the car safe to drive.... now I can concentrate on fun things... like driving it.
