MGB Shakedown run

After a long hiatus, the MGB is getting her legs stretched. Been driving it close to home for some 700~1000 miles, errands and suchlike. Yesterday, a visit to a client was a 75 mile round trip, Interstate run for the most part. No problems(!) and had it running at 70+ MPH most of the run. In 90°F weather, with the aluminum radiator and auxiliary fan, it stayed under 190° the whole time. I'm quite chuffed.

Only shortcoming is that I found myself wanting a fifth cog. Alfas have spoil't me.

Good to hear! And, yeah, fourth gear and 3.9 tail end will beat you (and the B) to death. Love the overdrive in our '73, and the V6 5 speed is great on the road. Overdrives are pricey here, but I understand they're not too bad from the mother country. Mayhaps one is in the cards for you?

That’s a great feeling doc... Congratulations!
After I completed the resto of my 6 I also longed for 5th gear. Two years later a call to Herman (HVDA) and I’m lovin the ride.

This is how they go, Mickey. First, they want another gear, then it's some more power and before they know it, we've lured them over to the dark side!

or more accurately

Bene, bene, il mio piano malvagio sta funzionando

 JP, I'll not give up the Alfa affection.

Power's good, Crane cam and a Weber 40 DCOE side-draught. So used to that Alfa fifth cog, found meself reaching for the gear lever only to remember it ain't there.

I've a five-speed Lotus box (from a Jensen Healey) on standby to go into the +2 when/if it gets into the lineup. That'll cure my yen for overdrive.
