Doing one of these things on a fully assembled car is a pickle. First you have to drain it of coolant.(GOOD LUCK)
Then carefully unwind the heat gage tube. Cut the hoses ,remove the supports and drop it down gently.
This is the easy bit( if you call working under the dash easy.) The trick to reinstalling it is to buy two of the
bulkhead hoses with the 90 deg bends (silicon is prefered) Install them on the heater and add a short bit of steel pipe
so the longer heater hoses can easily be fitted up lastly.
Pay special attention to the fan motor.The upper end is open to dirt and dust.Once it has been cleaned and fitted
into the assembly , affix a plastic cover to keep it fresh. The heater bracket easily holds it in place(cap off a Qt of oil ect)
Takes two men to re install it, but now you don't have to wrastle the hoses back into place and the 90 deg bends save kinking.
One ot the main reasons the heaters always worked poorly is THE HOSES COLLAPSE of their own weight (over time)!! Now
you have corrected two factory screwups and made the car better than new. You have truly earned a cold one!!
