How to keep service records for your British car

I'm selling a three owner Aston DB4 the first owner kept his service records by engraving the battery cover. The car now has 78k on it. Most are oil changes and adding water at 4250 miles

wow... better long term documentation than paper but not quite as good as stone...

looks like it's barely been driven since '77 ...
