My brother-in-law is going to go over the mechanicals of our Mini. He is very good at things mechanical and can repair almost everything. The Mini will be an interesting project for him. What manuals should he and for that matter I have? I want to order things this week so he will have them. I am taking the car to him this weekend.

Let me know which books/manuals and where to order them.

And in case you're wondering, with 3 kids, a new job and home repairs in order this summer, the only chance of the Mini seeing pavement this year is if he does it!! LOL

I have some antique service manuals from a bunch of cars and I know I have at least one Mini book. Contact me offline for details etc.
 
The obvious first suggestion is the appropriate Haynes manual. There are at least two and you choose the appropriate one for the year the car was built. The factory manuals are also a good choice. For early cars my preferred manual is The AutoBook for the Mini by Kenneth Ball.

Haynes and factory manuals are available new. However, all of these manuals are available on eBay if you keep watching. Some may also be available used through private sellers represented on Amazon.com

Heritage publishes a CD based manual available from Seven Enterprises and Mini Mania. Be advised that the Heritage CDs will NOT run on computers with Vista for the OS. There are some eBay sellers offering other CD based manuals but I don't know any more about them.
