Series II gear lube question

Early transmissions should be running G4 type gear lube as I have read, common G5 lube is bad for anything brass or yellow. How critical is this? G4 is getting hard to find and is $$$$. What is everybody using in theirs? Not trying to create another oil thread, but not a lot of info on this out there. Thanks

I use Red Line 90W. PJ

I use G4 in all my older Rovers. G5 is used in higher pressure like limited slip units. I have used G5 in the Discos with no problems. You think G5 is $$$, Try the synthetics for newer Rovers. You can get customer support at Rovers North and Alantic British.

I do like Red Line products, was just trying to get away from fluids that are $24. a quart. I own 3 vehicles that requires a GL4. A 68 Dart, a 59 Triumph TR3A and my 64 IIA. It has a leak that cannot be repaired without pulling the gear box, something I have been trying to avoid. It leaks about a quart a year. So my routine for the last 15+ years is to put it up on my lift, check all the reservoirs, oil change, lube and a general PM. Have been using AmsOil, which is good oil for $17. a quart. But just discovered this stuff. Is advertised on Amazon for $16. a quart, but also is available in a 5 gal jug for $7. a quart with tax. Going to give it a shot. I don't mind dealing with 5 gal. jugs as it is how I buy my Rotella T6 oil, which I use in all my vehicles. GL5 is used in everything that does not have anything yellow.
