Senior Prom Night !

I guess most of us remember our Senior Prom. My
girlfriend of three years was not permitted to wear
Prom orchids on her gown. Her mom insisted on a wrist
thingy.... so my fingers didn't accidentally wander!

Fashion ads for Senior Prom dresses are now in the our
daily newspapers. I surely did not see ANY dresses like
THESE at my Senior Prom. If I had a daughter, I'm not real
sure I'd let her out of the house in one of these Prom
numbers.

Times and styles change, I suppose.

I DID drive Amos, Mickey!!!

I was at our local panaderia with the Mrs, having a cafe
con leche and reading the local paper. The ad kinda jumped
out at me, you know?

Just thought I'd share some Latina cultural events, is all.

Th' "good ol' days". Drove to mine in a beige Lincoln Continental with suicide doors, a white "Nehru Jacket" and mutton chop sideburns... Date was a buddy, my "real" girlfriend(s) lived miles away and a year younger. Almost didn't bother but the friend asked me. She wore a neck-to-ankles gown, gloves... her upper arms & face were the only "parts" uncovered. We left early, went to the MickyD's then took her home. Dumb "tribal ceremony" IMO. feh. Apparently a good money generator for dressmakers and flower shops. I did make a few bucks photographing couples in front of a fake "woodsy" background and split rail fence for a few years, tho. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

I never went to my prom and agree with Doc.

This past weekend I went to a sweet 16 for my niece. She had on a lovely gown that was very coverring and tastefull. As for the other 15-16 girls almost, nothing and constantly pulling up there tops cause they kept falling down. Dancing was a completly different story. Bumping and grinding in trains of people. I'm not a prude but man what are their folks teaching them.

My daughter is 14 and not at all interested in a sweet 16. The money you spend on them should be used on a college education and not boozing and dancing. Ohh and on the subject of boozing. The DJ stopped the music in the middle of the party to announce that table 12 should return to their table immediately. Turns out that one of the boys threw up in the corner. The "water" glasses on the table were filled with Vodka and there was a bottle under the table. What these kids thinking!

I borrowed my dad's 1964 Buick LeSabre for prom...the GF didn't want to ride to the dance in my 1957 Chevy!

And my tux....GAWD! (But it was 1970)

Yeah I know.... But I swear it was cool at the time – got it at the local “John Shaft” collection at the local tux shop. But what the hey, it was 1977 – give me a break will ya? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

The girl was Lisa (withholding the last name) who had that "Dorothy Hamel" thing going on for herself BIG time while I had the Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) thing going on back then.

My daughter's school had a Ball every year they could go to, A formal dance with everyone dressing up, some went with dates but it seems most did not. A big party, but not on the scale of a prom....
 
I would expect to see some of those prom gowns on a stripper on Bourbon Street.....for a few moments!

Isn't it interesting that hookers were leaders in the fashion movement...back when, you could identify them on a street corner by the way they dressed....now everybody dresses like them!

I agree with Tony though, all those kids in that ad look like they should be doing a pole dance not a prom dance!!!
