MGB Seat webbing replacement.

Since my driver side webbing has most likely dried up and has broken, is there any simple method to replace the webbing without tearing the seat apart? I have heard that bungee cords could work. Very thick ones may be supportive.

I recovered my seats last year re-using the webbing on the passenger seat as it looked good. No one sat in that seat until I did this summer to remove the glove box in anticipation of a windshield replacement. I realized then that the webbing was not strong enough so I removed the seat to replace it. I tried to do it without breaking down the seat but found it impossible to stretch into position so I took the seat cushion cover off again to fit the new webbing.

No experience with bungees but maybe the short all-rubber heavy duty trucker type would work.
