Seat Swaps?

Country flag
Offline
I'm getting to the point of installing the mounts for my seats and was wondering whether upgrading to something different might be easily done.

Has anyone swapped the stock seats out for others? What did you use, and how much of an improvement was it.

Well JW, How about the Volvo P1800 Coupe seats with the spring supports instead of the rubbers. They have the adjustable Lumbar, removable headrests and provide support for the back of the thighs.Actually any good seat would be an upgrade over the stock Healey seat. Just a thought.---Keoke

IMOP any other seats would spoil the look of the car.
I really like the look of the orginal design with new foam and leather instead of the vinyl. I also like the look of the 100s seat for a vintage race look. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif Happy 4th

Well I guess if you just want to look at them then you be right. However, if you have to set in them for hours over long trips you will soon appreciate the benefits of a better seat.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cowboy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif Happy 4th to you to.

I can understand where your coming from but if we aren't careful we could end up with one of those Johnny Cash cars.
I could improve on nearly every component of the car but what would it be when finished?? An Austin Chevy?

THAT is very funny. And very true.

James,
Dennis Welsh sells a great seat. I have seen these in a few Healey race cars. Attached is a pic

One of the benefits of being this side of the pond is I can visit DW and see what I get before I buy it and speak with them about alternatives/installation/etc.

I've been able to try their seat on for size... and either its too small, or I'm too large....

I've seen a few Healeys with other, non-standard seats and was hoping to find something suitable. That said, I've got the seat frames, bases and backs- everything but the "soft" bits and would have no difficulty with finishing them if an alternative seems difficult to find/fit.

The main problem seems to be the narrowness of the space for it.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif Funny that, 'cause my cat can more often than not be found sleeping in a Corbeau Cassic.
