Seat Recovering

Well, unless it needs threadlock... Then ^ what he said.

Engine internals, things that are NOT exposed to atmosphere and haven't lock tabs, then yes, thread lock. Otherwise, it gets lubed with "The Compound" around here.

I've been the owner of that Elan in the sigfile since 1971... It will come apart as if it was put together yesterday... ALL of it.

"Planning."

Don't get me wrong, I like antiseize. But not inside the car. I used plenty around the big rigs I've owned. I use it on manifolds, exhaust, wheel nuts, etc. We have a colorful name for that silver stuff but I can't say it here. Use Fluid Film for lubrication.

'k.

AntiSeize is a messy compound, but well worth the trouble IMO. Haven't found anything else that'll last twenty years and still allow disassembly without fuss.

Thanks all...I like the idea of spray white lithium grease. Looks like a trip to A&A is in order today. I am trying to be lazy and not completely disassemble the seats and get into all the "might as well" replacement of all those marginal parts. I have two kids in college this year and time and money is at a premium in this house, as is space in the garages...anyone want a microwave or portable TV (your choice of 3 of each /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif) that has been used in a college dorm for a year or two, but has somehow been abandoned in my garage now? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

It is supposed to snow tomorrow... I guess I will pull the other seat this weekend and see what kind of shape it is in before I decide to restore or repair the seats.
