TR4/4A Seat rebuilding

My seat frames are powder coated and I started installing the diaphragms using the diagrams in the Moss and VB catalogs and a TRF kit. The completed seat frames I lost in November were rebuilt using no more than what I considered the most logical way with the diaphragm smooth side up and the 'hooks' installed from the top with the pointy ends down. Although the diagrams show the opposite I'm still not convinced the catalogs are correct. Can someone tell me the original way?
Thanks, Rut

On my original TR4 seats - smooth side down, pointy ends up.

I have photos but Photobucket now blocks users from posting photos from their site.

George,
Thanks for that info, it helps me breathe easier!
