Does this happen often and where can I get a quality replacement?
Thanks, Rut

TRF sells the rubber mat. I have the part, but have not installed it yet so I cannot comment on durability / quality.

Rut,
I always replace them when recovering the seats. As Mike said, TRF has them, they won't have metal brace but work well well for a few years.
Btw, was in T town yesterday evening coming back from NOLA.

You shoulda called! The picture is of the TRF diaphragm and it pulled apart on install...the other seat did fine.

Update!
Sent TRF a picture of the diaphragm and Albert responded saying that they did have a bad batch and a new one was on its way out to me. I like companies that shine when there's a problem!

Another update!
Just got an email from Albert letting me know he's sending 2 diaphragms out at nc just in case the first one installed ends up being bad! Doesn't get any better!
Rut

That's great! Albert has always been helpful with me as well ... a class act.

My TRF diaphragms are about 7 years old now and have survived my 210 lb butt and a refurb with new seat foams last winter.

That is too funny and it's exactly the same weight and reference to butt that I used in my email to Albert...what are the odds.

The diaphragms arrived yesterday evening from TRF and I installed them along with the homemade Pirelli back straps. The new parts installed easily and appear to be very sturdy! Thanks for the assistance once again.

I did similar work last winter, replacing the back straps and foams. Couldn't see paying the big price per strap the parts houses wanted. A lot of work, but well worth the effort.
