Seat Rails: Worth it or not ??

Trying to install mynew seats tonight - difficulty on an apparently easy job (maybe not).

Either seats don't move (rails greased); too tight ?? or don't go back all the way (long end of rail behind bolt hole to the back; should be in front?)

I'm 6'2 and could use all of the leg room I could use. Wife-y is 5'8" and is OK. What's the consensus of jsut hard mounting them into the floor? It's not like these cars have an abundance of leg room - so moving the seats up just isn't a major concern.

Anyone else have this problem or should I keep playing with the rails and 'make them work'.

BTW - Buddy coming over tomorrow to finish up electrical miscellaneous -- should be driveable for the first time this year. I'm anxious !!

Tx and I welcome all ideas.

George

I found that the seat frames on my car were not very straight on the bottom and when I bolted the rails to the frame the rails bowed and wouldn't slide, so I shimmed between the rails and frame to allow the rails to be straight and slide properly. I found that just one common washer under the front and one under the rear screw worked fine for me.
