I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the vinyl paint that Eastwood sells or another version. I'm thinking of painting my seats to match the rest of my interior but i'm not sure how it will hold up with the wear and tear of being on a seat. Has anyone done anything like this in the past? Are there any paints that work better than others?

My other question is i'm looking for a place I can get some black vinyl to recover my door panels and such. Does anyone know of any sites or places that sells this by the yard.

I've used Eastwood vinyl paint to recolor the dashboard padding in a car I used to have. It seemed to sink in and hold up well; not float on top and peel off, if that's what you're worried about. I used Eastwood vinyl prep to clean and soften the stuff first like they tell you to. (No, I don't work for Eastwood :smile: )I don't know how it'll stand up to seat wear in the long term; but it sure seemed permanent to me. If it does start wearing, you can always touch it up, though, or use seatcovers.

Black vinyl? Try a local fabric store. They're sure to have it by the acre, and at a lot less coin than the specialty upholstery shops.
 
Another place to ask the question about dieing or painting fabric is an upholstery shop. They should have had knowledge of its wear ability. For them new is always better so....
Even better is a new or good used car lot that uses mobile repair people that do just this sort of thing. They can definitely give you some first hand information even to the extent of, best application and products.
