seat pans

I purchased new seat pans for my BJ8 and found them to not be a great fit into the seat frame. There seems to be too much room at the sides while striking the fro;nt at one of the front corners. (Foam already attached). Has any one else had this problem. My old ones were custom built by the PO but also sliped out too easily. I can make it fit with shims covered in vinyl so its not a big deal. Just curious why it is an inch narrower than the frame. I got the left and right from two different mfg and they are the same size and fit the Moss foam perfectly. Frame appears original.

Im no Help TH never had the problem or heard of it before.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif--2

WELL TH, I went out in the shop and pulled the passengers seat and the seat pan measures across the bottom 16 5/8" at the widest point near the front +/- ~1/8"--Best I can do for you.---Keoke

Actually they came form different venders with different tags (one with Union Jack, the other with a bar-code) They look different in manufacturing. One vender was a Moss distributer.

Can anyone with a BJ8 measure the width of the seat frame from hing to hing for me? Is there another car that this seat frame may have come from that looks exactly the same as this Healey seat?
Thanks

Hi TH,
I had just the opposite problem. I kept the seats pans but replaced the surround. When fitting the seats in they were too big for the holes. I had to cut a bunch of metal out to get the seats to sit flush with the surround. I would venture a guess that all the new pieces fit each other, they're just not the original dimensions.

Hi TH, I measured the pan and put it in my original response. The frame does not exceed the given pan dimensions by more than 1/4" on each side.---Keoke
