I believe you're right--They are shaped similar to MG seats but have at least one too many panel. My Courier is an early one--#15--and I know they used a lot of TR and MG parts, probably whatever fell to hand. Here's another shot showing the seat cushion--definitely different than what is on the MG Guru site.
I was hoping to find a good home for them--they're not supportive enough for racing and I'm replacing them with Kirkey vintage seats.
They do look like MGA competition seats. I've never seen a set in person. But they could be shared between a few different cars, especially as competition parts.
I cannot download the picture of the seats in question...but from what I remember (before the change in this forum) they looked similar to the seats in this Inskip MGTD:
