Hi everyone
Has anyone made their own seat foams? I was going to buy some from the UK but the freight is expensive and I'm considering making my own. I made them for my MGA and I know the Healey is trickier, but I'd like to give it a go. Any ideas, pictures, measurements?

An upholstery shop might be able to help you make something up. Moss sells them too, and they look good. I recently bought a set, although they are still waiting for installation. Maybe next winter.
 
I used Moss' foam and it was one of the hardest thing I've done on the BJ8. The bottom was easy. The back was a 3 day struggle. I ended up cutting away a lot with trial and error. I was told that I needed to just cram the foam in and not cut anything. Fat chance. Its been 8 months and I am avoiding doing the other seat. The Moss video was of no help.

all photos are for 100/6 Longbridge cars --but difference from others models are luckily few

Andrea, your pics are terrific, a great help. I thought I could make them up out of composite pieces glued together. Not sure. I may just bite the wallet and get them shipped.

Looking at those pics proves even more that it's not a diy job if your in a club look up a upholster that has some experience with these seats

If you decide to buy new foam you'll probably need to "soften" them up too. I had to send my cushions back to my Interior supplier to have them "drill holes" in the bottom cushions because they were too firm.
 
I agree that a good craftsman in an upholstery shop is a good idea if you don't want your head to explode. I used Moss foam (lots of trimming but ultimately still very difficult, put the covers on myself and I think at the time I posted that the only people crankier than the panel fitters/beaters at the factory must have been the upholstery people. My results, on a scale of one to ten, do fall in that range but it depends on which square inch of the job you choose to look at.:nopity:
