Seat Belts in a MKII?

Hi All,

I did some searching but didn't really find the info I'm looking for. I'm a new Spridget owner and just "getting to know" my new 62' Sprite. Did 1962 Sprite MKII's come with seat belts? Were they a dealer installed option? I'm just wondering if my car should have holes, brackets or eye bolts already there for mounting them OR if I will have to drill hole? If I do have to drill holes does anyone have pics of where the best location is? I ordered the Moss vintage style lap belts so I should have them next week.

Thanks in advance...Boost

Yes, (if yours is like mine) look for eye bolts behind the seats to the sides.
They might be under the carpeting.
I do believe they were a dealer option.
If you don't have any eye bolts then they can be added.

I had a pair of belts in my parts car, so I've ordered some new black seat belt webbing and I'll reuse the hardware. I've got them in the car now, but the belts are old and no longer adjust. The new webbing is coming from England, might get here today. The Moss vintage belts look like mine, only newer of course.

Seatbeltpros.com, you can get the exact period correct belts in any color with correct buckle for under $40 a pair shipped.
The sell the mounting kits too.

Nice, thanks Frank!

Hey All,

Quick update, I got my vintage seat belts from Moss and put them in the Sprite today. I did have to drill holes as my car has never had seat belts before. It was pretty easy actually. Only problem now is the length of the fixed belt...they work fine but are a bit long so the buckle sits way over toward the opporite side. I guess they would be perfect if I had a 56" waist!! I should have ordered the "short" version from Moss instead of the "long"...might have to exchange them. So, be forwarned...if you have a Sprite you need the short version seat belts.
