That's me too Jack. I've never seen a spring of the frame but unfortunately I have seen a frame w/o a spring. I have a passenger side frame that's adjustable with the spring intact I believe that I'll remove it and try John-Peter's suggestion by taking it to Auto Zone to see if they have something similar.
